Our group

We belong to the University of Valencia (UV). We are located in the Jeroni Muñoz investigation building in the Burjassot’s Campus.

Dr. Carmen Amaro is the leader of the research group. She is an experienced microbiologist and a specialist in host-pathogen interactions by single gene and omic approaches. She has participated in 30 founded R&D projects from public calls (as scientist in charge in 17) and in 25 industry-funded projects. She has co-authored over 110 publications and has directed 10 PhD-theses and 12 Master projects.

Dr. Belen Fouz is Associate Professor (Full time) in the ERI BioTecMed and member of the research group “Pathogens in Aquaculture” responsible for research applied to the Aquaculture industry. Her career has focused on the study of pathologies caused by bacteria or virus, with an special emphasis in applied research in collaboration with aquaculture companies. Her extensive experience has provided her uniquely with a strong base in infections fields, which has enabled cross-disciplinary collaborations, techniques and protocols to be established. She has worked hardly in development and efficacy evaluation of vaccines and diets for cultured fishes for years. Moreover, she has carried out studies on the intestinal fish microbiome using massive sequencing techniques. She has participated in 20 funded R&D projects from public calls (5 as scientist in charge) and has been involved in more than 30 industry-funded projects (as scientist in charge in most). She has further co-authored 55 publications in international journals and several book chapters and directed 20 MSc research projects.
